Sachin Tendulkar’s life can be summed up quite rightly in one sentence. From Tendulkar to Ton-dulkar to End-ulkar to Ton-dulkar again. Such has been his importance to the game that it had be quite an achievement to find an Indian cricketer who says that he has not been inspired by Tendulkar. The Indian Premier League saw a disappointing number of spectators mainly because of the longness of the tournament.
We had 8 teams and 60 games this year. Then what do you expect next year? Lalit Modi planned 10 teams and 94 games!!!.Who will watch all 94 games?
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has planned 2 alternative methods credit to NBA.
TWO NEW WAYS:-
- 10 teams will be divided into two groups, Each of the groups will follow the current away and home method. The top 3 teams from each group would proceed to a new League- Super Six. Then, the top 4 teams in Super 6 will go to the semis. Poor thing is that the teams which don’t qualify for Super 6 will get only 8 games.
- The 10 teams would still be in two groups. But, here each team would play the other four in its group twice, once at home and once away, it would also play each team from the other group once. The top four teams at the end of this process would then advance to the semifinals. So, here each team gets a minimum of 13 games.
Just a week before the T20 World Cup to kick start,The Indian team has seen a injury- Virender Sehwag, player of DD has injured his shoulders just like what happened last year.
But the selectors have not made the same blunder as they did in the last T20 World Cup. Wiser selection has been done by choosing Murali Vijay, the experienced campaigner and one in the top 5 run scorers in the IPL.
Some of you might think Vijay is a test player and won’t fit in Viru’s aggressive shoes. But, he has been selected because of his superb playing in the IPL this year.
Will he do wonders? Lets wait and see.

Every now and then in a match the Commentators talk about the MRF Blimp- a balloon like on top of the stadium. The TV Commentators just tell Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir are its ambassadors and Denis Lillee is the Chairman of MRF pace foundation.
This is the First time MRF brought the blimp into India and it is placed in the stadium atmosphere during the matches.
But who of you all knew the significance of the MRF Blimp? Here it is:-
The blimp is 19 metres long, contains upto 400 cubic metres of pure helium and can be raised to a maximum height of 1000 feet. Once in the air at 300 metres height, it can withstand wind velocity of upto 40 knots during a storm.
Once the blimp is launched, the weather is continuously monitored via telemetry incorporated into the blimp payload as well as tension in the tether line which links the blimp to the trailer on the ground.
So, here is one fact of IPL. There are more to come which no one knows. Wait and Watch.
