T20 WC squad: India

Just when one third of the Indian Premier League is completed, Kris Srikkanth and co decided the final 15 players for the twenty twenty world Cup which will take place in West Indies starting April 29th.

It was a tough job to pick the 15 as there are many good players in the 30 man probables.

Young Pacer Ishant Sharma who was part of last year World Cup has been dropped giving a chance to Vinay Kumar.

But, some good performers till now in the IPL- Robin Uthappa, Saurabh Tiwary, Murali Karthik, Amit Mishra, Virat Kohli have not been considered.

The team is placed in group C along with the South Africans and Afghanisthan. Key players will be Virender Sehwag and Zaheer Khan who were missed in World Cup 2008.

Squad:

MS Dhoni, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Piyush Chawla, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Vinay Kumar, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ravindra Jadeja, Praveen Kumar, Ashish Nehra, Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik, Yusuf Pathan.

Defending Champs knocked out of U-19 WC

Its been a unlucky show for the Indians when they defend any cup. Yes, Dhoni and Co couldn’t defend their T20 world cup title in England getting thrashed out in the Quarter Finals.

It has been the same story in the Under 19 World Cup in the New Zealand this Summer.

The defending champs, India got off to a superb start in this tournament beating Afghanistan and almost beating England.

This team is no where compared to Kohli’s brave hearts who deserved and won the cup in Malaysia.Kohli’s team was all the way in 2008 like Dhoni’s T20 eleven.

But,eh…the match with the arch rivals Pakistan was a great down to the wire game where the Greens knocked India out and clinched victory.

With overnight rain in the Lincoln cricket ground, the 50 over game was drastically reduced to a 23 over making it almost a T20 game, but neither of both teams change gears. Both the neighbors played is as same as a 50 over game.

The Indians managed just 114 runs giving away 9 wickets in the process. In reply the Pakis managed the total with just 3 balls to spare. Hats off to some great contributions.

Indian bowling was out of words, i mean excellent in the first 10 overs. It looked to me that they will win the World Cup with this superb bowling attack.

The Pakistanis were 16 with the collapse of three wickets until Ahsan Ali brought them back into the match with a 45-ball 30 before being run-out by Jaydev Unadkat.

Wickets tumbled at regular intervals but Pakistan kept themselves in the hunt with some brisk scoring.

Rameez Aziz (28) and Hammad Azam (21 not out) turned out to be the heroes for Pakistan as they found the boundaries and sixes when it mattered the most.

Most of the match, the run rate was below 6 run a over so it looked a cake walk after the Pakistani boys settled.

Indeed it is an important win for Pakistan which takes them to the Semi Finals against the West Indians.

The system of quarter finals was like a knock out cup. You lose a match by just a ball or a valuable run, you’re out of this tournament. Thats it!

This system looks interesting especially to squeeze a world cup in short time. But it won’t benefit teams.
