Indian Players to be sent to SA early

The Board of Control for Cricket in India have decided to send the Indian Cricketers to South Africa for the Test, T20 and ODI series well before the start of the series. This is in an intention so that the players get well to the South African conditions. Many players who will be rested for the Home series of New Zealand, will be sent between the One Day series. Rest of the others will fly to SA immediately after the  ODIs conclude. India won’t play a Practice Match in the tough conditions of African pitches. Moreover, this is because India has never won a test series there and only won 1 Test in recent 4 tours. BCCI’s Chief Administrator Ratnakar Shetty said:-

The plan now is to send some of the Test players early. The team management and the coach expressed the desire that there is a need for acclimatisation in South Africa. The process has started already. Except MS Dhoni, no senior player is there in the present ODI team (for the Australia series). Despite that our team performed really well yesterday. I hope this will work because this is one way the team management is working out a plan towards the World Cup.

Indian Captain, MS Dhoni also said:-

In last few series, we have not played with our strongest side and rested most players. Maybe injuries were a bit more concern, we are a bit cautious. We don’t want our big players to get injured before a tournament especially when it’s happening in India. Hopeful everyone will get fit for World Cup.

It is probable that MS Dhoni will be rested along with major senior players for the New Zealand Series. Many young lads will get a go even in Test series. India after being No.1 Test team has not played a Test match against South Africa in their conditions. This will be a huge test for them now.
