Preview CL: Mumbai Indians

Probably, the favorites for the Champions League T20, Mumbai Indians are a serious contender and sure semi-finalists. The presence of Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo strengthens the team. The team is placed along with Royal Challengers, Guyana, South Australia and Highveld Lions. They were the finalists of the Indian Premier League 2010 and just missed the cup. They were the most consistent team in the whole IPL.

ROAD TO CL

Even though having a strong team on Paper, the Mumbai team dissapointed all in first two seasons of IPL. But,  in the third Season they were the most consistent team in there. Unfortunately, they couldn’t make it to be the Winners. Heavily relied upon Tendulkar’s performance, the Team roared into the Semis. Not only Tendulkar, even Ambati Rayudu, S Tiwary and others too had major contributions. There was not to been full gear approach for Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo even though their presence made it great. Infact, Mumbai didn’t get many matches for Pollard to finish it for them. The bowling attack was too good for the team. Zaheer Khan, Lasith Malinga and Harbhajan Singh- The most known Bowling names in the Subcontinent. The all rounding strength too was good with Pollard, Bravo and McLaren.

The team lost to Chennai Super Kings in the Finals before which the Mumbai Indians were the top team in whole IPL.

THE MEN

Squad:-

Zaheer Khan, Dhawal Kulkarni, Lasith Malinga, Harbhajan Singh, Ali Murtuza, SR Tendulkar (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Jean Paul Duminy, Saurabh Tiwary, Ambati Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo, Ryan McLaren, Kieron Pollard, Rajagopal Sathish, Aditya Tare
This team looks the most formidable one. The openers probably will be Sachin Tendulkar along with Shikhar Dhawan. Ambati Rayudu, Saurabh Tiwary, the solid middle order Batsman will follow them. The duo of Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard’s space is reserved in the Squad with presence as home team Trinidad and Tobago did not qualify and they did not want to play for the Australian Red Backs and Bushrangers.
Rajagopal Sathish will follow the two duos at No.7 filling the Batting specialists. The Mumbai Indians have 4 big all rounders- Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, R Sathish and R McLaren which is a plus point for them.
Ambati Rayudu will look to keep wickets as there is no place for AP Tare and that Rayudu already kept wickets for almost whole IPL 3.
HOW WILL CL BE FOR THEM

It looks a easy group for the Mumbai team as they are placed along with Royal Challengers and Highveld Lions who are the biggest contenders in this group along with Guyana- a weak team and South Australian Red Backs who are weakened without the presence of Kieron Pollard and Shahid Afridi.

The first match for them, the first match of the Tournament on 10th September, against the Highveld Lions. The Indian bowling duo- Harbhajan and Zaheer should fire and batting too. It is hoped that they will easily be a finalist. Lets see!
