India really prepared for 2011?

The last game between India and Sri Lanka saw a very poor performance from the Indian Batsmen. Yuvraj Singh, the highest scorer, scoring 38 runs. When others score, Yuvraj doesn’t score, when Yuvraj scores, others don’t score. India without Sachin Tendulkar+ Gautam Gambhir totally rely upon Virender Sehwag only.

When Sehwag got out, game over for India. What the hell is this? Cricket is a game of eleven players and the team is totally dependent only one player. Indian wickets fall like how we push a line of cycle standing in line.

Next year, we have the most important tournament- ICC World Cup and its in India. We need to surely win it and Sachin’s dream is winning the World Cup in India. So now like what should the Batting order be for India?

Obvious, Virender Sehwag along with Sachin Tendulkar. This is the only opening best we have. If any one absent, Murali Vijay, Dinesh Karthik and many others are there to fill the gap. Gautam Gambhir too can open the innings, but it is better that he remains at No.3. Sehwag and Tendulkar opened the innings for India in the majestic 2003 World Cup. This is the best opening pair for India and the most attacking pair.

Number 3 Position

Gambhir is the only Batsman fit at this place. We have had Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and others but Gautam Gambhir is the best player. Suresh Raina has been very successful at this position. But if the No.1 and 2 are present as I told, Raina can bat down the order as he is a good finisher.

Number 4 and 5

Perhaps, the will be most probably occupied by Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni. This has been from 2 years or more. Even though Yuvraj Singh is out of form, he can be placed at No.4 and No.5 by MS Dhoni. Actually, Dhoni is a floater, in fact can play  at any position. It will be comfort for Dhoni in this position between all batsmen. He too is a good finisher and rotates strike very well.

Number 6 and 7

This is a matter of serious concern. May be Suresh Raina will take the Number 6 position as he is only cemented this place in the squad left now. Raina can be dangerous during finishing the innings and his big six hitting capabilities during death overs. But its a huge confusion on who will play at No.7. There plenty of options left. Virat Kohli, Yusuf Pathan, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja.

Who will come in? As every team now has a pace bowling all rounder and India doesn’t have, it would be good if Irfan Pathan makes a serious comeback. Pathan has played crucial roles for India before he was dropped. And even in the domestic level, he is doing great now. Hope he is picked!

You can freely suggest another squad and come up with a debate. You know more than me so please comment.

  1. Very nice blog I think it is true that without sachin, gambir and sehwag Indian team is very weak but you know why because in Indian cricket team bowler are not all round ,we want all rounder like sachin,pa than. These player makes team confidence very well.If India want to prepaid for the 2011 he has to make his bowler all rounder. So that in bad situations they can also play like Australian team. Thanks for sharing..
