Sangakkara replaces Sehwag as Top Test Batsman
Kumar Sangakkara overtook Virender Sehwag as the No.1 Batsman in Test Cricket rankings after his blistering double hundred against India in the 2nd Test. Sehwag has been dropped to No.2 spot after the 99 against Lanka in second Test game.
Sri Lankan Captain Kumar Sangakkara scored 219 and 42 not out in the last test to reclaim his No.1 Test spot after 2009. Meanwhile, The Master- Sachin Tendulkar has been moved to 4th place in the Test Rankings after his double ton during the match.
Other Indians in the batting top-20 are Gautam Gambhir (No.11), V.V.S. Laxman (No.15) and Rahul Dravid (No.19).
After his test debut, Suresh Raina with his Magnificent 120 jumped into the Test Rankings for the first time placed at No.60.
The latest rankings also has shift in places after the Pakistan vs England test match. After the 11 wickets taken by James Anderson, sending Pakistan with a heavy defeat, he climbed up to 5th place, his career best.
England wicketkeeper, Matthew Prior glided to 33rd place with his unbeaten 102, but Pakistan Captain Salman Butt reduced two places down to 34th place.
England Skipper, Andrew Strauss moved into top 20 after leading his team to a victory against Pakistan while his junior Alastair Cook jumped to 30th spot just below the Indian Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Paul Collingwood too moved two places to 22nd spot.
