Let Afridi be The ODI captain: Inzaman

Inzamam-ul-Haq the former captain of Pakistan insisted that Afridi should be made the captain of the Pakistani One Day team.He tells that Yousuf should be given longer stride as a test captain.

“Lack of planning was the reason for the loss of the test series in Australia”he says.

With the desperate loss,he tells that Yousuf should not be sacked like how the board did injustice to Younus Khan.

Shahid Afridi has been doing well as the Captain of domestic team and as the captain of the T20 Side. His performance has been excellent and he will do well as the ODI captain.

It won’t be a bad choice to make two different captains for test and ODI matches- he says. “In fact, more young players should be bred into the ODI and T20 team and if they perform well in both the shortened forms, they should be let into the test side” he adds.

Test matches need experienced players and lack of experience was the reason for the team’s failure down under. Inzamam also blamed a lack of communication between the captain, coach, selectors and the board for the poor results in Australia.

“It is imperative that the captain and chief selector must be thinking on same wavelength because I don’t think the board should have any role to play in selection matters,” he said.

Inzamam said the board had also taken some poor decisions in recent times as far as the team and management was concerned.

“We have three coaches with the team but with due respect all of them are bowlers and the team urgently requires a batting and fielding coach. I think the board should not waste anymore time in bringing in professional batting and fielding coaches,” he added.
