India wins the series and goes to No.1
The historic morning of December 6, 2009 was a glory in the history of Indian Cricket. Team India thrashed Sri Lanka by an innings and 24 runs and attained the number one spot in the ICC Test Rankings for the first time in cricekt history. That the unforgetable moment came at the historical Brabourne Stadium, in its first Test after 36 years.
While it was a wonderful team effort that won India the series with a 2-0 margin, there was one man who’s contribution stood out in both the games that India won. Virender Sehwag’s astounding 254-ball innings of 293 virtually pushed Sri Lanka out of the Mumbai game and his brisk 131-run knock in Kanpur laid the foundation for India’s 100th Test victory.
Easily With 491 runs in the series, the Nawab of Najafgarh was an easy winner of the man of the series award, along with being named as the player of the match.
The man of Day five was Khan who picked up three wickets this morning. Starting with Sangakkara’s wicket caught by Dhoni he went on to pick two more wickets. The last wicket was taken by Harbajan bowiling to Muttiah caught by Dhoni.
It was a splended serious by the Indians becoming the No.1 Team.
