No Referral System for Indo- Aus Series

We saw a lot of Wrong Decisions in the Match between India and Sri Lanka recently due to which India lost the game. So, we blame the Umpires for wrong decisions. But, it was available the Tri Series and because India did not want it, it was not used. So somehow India paid the price for not accepting the URDS system.

Asin to become Brand Ambassador of Kochi team?

Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Shilpa Shetty, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif.etc.etc. Is it enough of Bollywood in IPL? No it isn’t. Because Asin will join the club.

One of the most emerging actress, Asin whose native is Kerala wants to support the Kochi team itself. But the announcements have not yet come from the team owners.

Kochi Stadium gets ready for IPL

A new cricket stadium with 50,000 capacity is being built in Kochi under Kerala Cricket Association at Eda Kochi which will be ready only in 2012. So it is not for the Indian Premier League 4.

So, all the renovation works are going on in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, near Kaloor junction which has hosted some ODIs and football matches.

The Greater Cochin Development Authority(GDCA) has intended to finish the renovation works in Nehru Stadium for which the government has sanctioned Rs 4 crore 20 lakh to replace the wornout chairs at the venue.

A total of 22,400 pieces, installed when the stadium was built in 1996, need to be replaced and all the replacement works will start out in two weeks time.

Meanwhile, the painting works are being tendered along with the turfing of the surface. The 2.5 lakh square feet ground is being prepared with a drainage facility that will allow water to drain out in 10 minutes. The system covers a circumference of 800 m.

The top layer would consist of a combination of fine gravel, sand and neopit, made of coconut fibres. Layers of sand and gravel would be used to level the field after installing the drainage pipes.

400 truck loads of Sand and 800 of Gravel will be needed to raise the ground by 25 cm.

Just before the IPL 4, The renovated Stadium will face an ODI between India and Australia.

Please suggest name for Kochi team

For the first time in IPL history, the Kochi team owners have made a contest to suggest a name to their IPL team and fans are pouring in with mails for the ‘Express – Josco IPL Kochi Naming Contest.’

Along with the name suggesting, Kochi team also shows its readers concern over issues like conservation of Wildlife and Carbon Emission.

The owners are busy reading SMS and e-mails from their fans. The naming of the team will be just after this year’s IPL.

What will be the 2 new team names?

In 2008 when 8 franchises were to select the names for the eight teams, some guys did a blunder and some excellent names.

Here are the 8 team names:-

Chennai Super kings, Delhi Daredevils, Deccan Chargers, Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Those are all awesome names.

Now, two new teams are in. Kochi and Pune. In 2008, it was not much awaited to know the team name.

But, after 2 seasons of IPL, it has totally changed. The cost of the team is more than 3 times that of 2008.

So, you can drop in the team names you want the owners to keep and if by luck they see it the name you kept may become the team name.

Pune and Kochi joins IPL!

Yet another auction in the Indian Premier League. 5 groups were bidding for it. But, Sahara and Rendezvous World Sport paid an huge amount that Lalit Modi too didn’t expect of.

The Pune franchise were won by Sahara Adventure Sports – a part of the Sahara Group with a winning bid of USD 370 million as the highest bid. Sahara had bid similar amounts for three cities namely Ahmedabad, Nagpur and Pune and finally selected Pune as the host city for the new franchise.

The other franchise went to Rendezvous Sports World who won the Kochi franchise with a bid of USD 333 million.
